Lions win thriller in OT 26-23

The Detroit Lions looked like they were down for the count after ending the first half down 20-0. After scoring 23 unanswered points in the second half, they looked unbeatable. It was after the Vikings tied it at twenty-three that you saw the mettle of this team shine through. Facing 3rd and 27 on their own three yard line with 1:01 left to play, the Lions played it smart, ran the ball for no gain, and got the clock moving on a Vikings team with no timeouts.
By the time the Vikings got the ball back, they had only eleven seconds left on their own 40 yard line. With the ensuing hook and lateral play petering out, the game went to overtime. The Lions won the toss and elected to receive. A critical seventeen yard reception by Titus Young, and a massive bomb from Stafford to Calvin Johnson, put the ball down on the seventeen yard line, where head coach Jim Schwartz never hesitated before sending Jason Hanson on to kick the game winner.
The Lions move to 3-0 for the first time in 31 years.
