UPDATE

Hello friends and fellow bloggers.  I am posting this message to inform you about the reason behind my lack of activity here this season.  Unfortunately, I have had very little time to create the usual in depth posts that I wrote for you in the past.  This is due to the fact that I am working now, and work takes up a lot of my time and energy.  I am sorry, but I can not bring you the Weekend Spotlight on a weekly basis at this time.

This is as disheartening for me as it may be for some of you who enjoy my analysis.  I will do my best to bring some content to this blog this season, at least at key points.  I am not promising anything, but please feel free to check back frequently.  I may find more time or energy.  I love writing about the Lions, but it is a hobby and it was a way for me to pass time while I was unemployed.  For those of you who know me from the Pride of Detroit blog, I still read there frequently and post on occasion.  You can always contact me via Facebook or Yahoo, when I am free, should you want to chat about football.

Until later...GO LIONS!

KDawg's Official 2012 Detroit Lion's Mock Draft

With the 23rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select...
Hello Lion's fans, and welcome back to The Mane Attraction!  I have been resting my mind so far this offseason, so that I might come back with a great post about the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft.  In this post, I will talk about the different possibilities for the Lion's first round selection, by predicting who I think will go where and why, as the draft leads up to the Lion's first pick.  After I discuss the first round possibilities in depth, I will provide you with my predictions for the Lion's draft this year.  I'm not going to say that I will be right, or even that my ideas will be anywhere near what the Lion's have in mind, but rather I will speak from my own perspective and try to incorporate what I believe Mayhew and company will be thinking when they choose draft prospects this year.  I will begin my analysis, after the jump...

Post Season Thoughts

Matthew Stafford and many of the Lion's players celebrate with fans after clinching a wildcard birth in the playoffs this season.

Well folks, it's finally over.  The Lions lost their playoff game against the Saints, and now it is closing in on the time to be thinking about the NFL draft and the future of this team.  The Lions put together a solid season that has renewed a lot of faith in the fanbase.  With a record of 10-6, a playoff birth for the first time in 12 years, and young stars like Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson leading the way, the future looks pretty bright for this team.  I just wanted to let all of you who read this blog know that I am not done just because the season is over.  I plan to talk about potential draft picks for the Lions at pick 23, potential trade situations both in the draft and during the free agency period, and even provide some mock drafts as the offseason progresses.  I have found a list of a few underclassmen prospects that have declared for the upcoming draft, and the Lions could show interest in some, or all of them.  If you're interested, continue reading after the jump.

The Weekend Spotlight - Wildcard Round - Playoff Edition, 2011

SPECIAL PLAYOFF EDITION PIC - I got my authentic Stafford jersey, today, just in time for the playoffs!
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, to your FIRST Weekend Spotlight playoff edition EVER!!!  I am your host, KDawg (as shown above).  This very special installment of YOUR weekly WS will feature the first playoff game for OUR Detroit Lions since 1999!  The Lions will once again travel to the lower reaches of the swamp, deep into the enemy territory known as "Who Dat" Nation, to face the New Orleans Saints for the second time this season, at the Mercedes-Benz Louisiana Superdome of New Orleans, LA.  Last weekend was somewhat of a let down for many of the Lion faithful, as the Lions lost a controversial heartbreaker to the Green Bay Packers, led by backup QB Matt Flynn, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.  This weekend, on primetime TV, for a chance to redeem themselves with another shot at the defending champs, the Lions will face a RED HOT 13-3 Saints team, led by none other than the man who recently shattered Dan Marino's all time passing record for most yards in a single season, Drew Brees.  It is WIN or go home time for the Lions.  I believe the Lions will be fired up for this game, and I believe they CAN win this game.  I will reveal some of these reasons, enroute to my picks for key players for a very HUGE Lion VICTORY, followed by my general game prediction for the final outcome of the game, after the jump...
